The gay Humanist charity the Pink Triangle Trust (PTT) has warmly welcomed the Liberal Democrats’ conference vote in favour of civil partnership legislation for lesbian and gay couples.
PTT spokesperson George Broadhead said: “As the charity which has been arranging nationwide secular Humanist ceremonies of love and commitment for lesbian and gay couples for a number of years, we congratulate the Liberal Democrats on this progressive move. Partnership legislation is an essential aspect of lesbian and gay equality. It’s a pity that the Labour Party, for all its fine promises on gay and lesbian rights, can’t deliver the same.”
